The Haunted Bus

October 31, 2024

We have some dear friends who live on Hill Drive in Eagle Rock, and this is an area that attracts trick-or-treaters at Halloween, and Halloween is my favorite holiday (besides Dia de Los Muertos, my birthday), so this year and last year we brought the Bus. This year was awesome because my friends on Hill drive had their 80’s tribute band, The Push Pins, play a set on the front lawn, and there I was, handing out candy with the Bus. I went as Space Cowgirl, but everyone thought I was a Barbie,

and when he finally got away from work, I was met by my partner, Robert in a Bobafett head and a cowboy shirt. We all had a great time, and I even made it to work in the morning!

My father always loved Halloween and remember dressing him up to go to the festivities in downtown Ashland, and I brought Dad some marigolds from the amazing and ever-blooming (still) gift from my dear Christina…

marigolds

Dad was there in spirit, as he always is in the Bus, but seeing the urn with his ashes, the marigolds, and picture made me remember why we honor the dead, and it made me miss him, for he would have hated the loud music and the crowds, but he would have enjoyed the food and camaraderie of my friend’s kitchen.

And that’s not to mention Squishy as Gregory the Abomination.
