Update on Lollie the frog not a tadpole nor Lollie the human:
So, while we were out having adventures, the wonderful Ms. Sophy and Mr. Kendall took care of the turtles and the tortoise and the fish and Lollie…and Lollie turned into a frog! Here’s the weird part: Lollie the tadpole loved to eat from Robert’s hand, and to have her white belly rubbed, but Lollie was blind. During my time away Lollie grew eyes and discovered that Robert was a BIG SCARY MONSTER, so now she hides.
On a positive note, there are no bugs in my side yard. Lollie is slowly accepting us if we are very quiet and still, but now that she can see us, she is not loving the humans. Actually, I understand this feeling.
Speaking of she, we don’t know Lollie’s gender or species. In fact, we originally thought she was a native Red-Legged frog, then we thought she was an invasive species bullfrog, and now we aren’t sure. Any herp folks out there, let us know your thoughts. For now, we gave Lolliver (her gender neutral name) docks to get out onto land, and we plan to build her a frog garden to cavort in.
Wow, what a gift to see this happen, and we are so blessed.
